1. Nairobi National Park
A short drive out of the capital city Nairobi is the Nairobi National Park (15 mins drive). Here you will be guided in a 4 hours game drive through wide open grass plains, and scattered acacia bushes and spot a wide variety of wildlife including the Rhinos, Lions, Buffaloes, Giraffes, Leopards, and many more. There are also over 400 species of birds and all animals are in their natural habitat.
2. David Sheldrick
This is a trust elephant orphanage that rescues and nurtures baby elephants from different national parks and reserves in Kenya. They are orphaned either due to poaching or the natural death of their mothers. Visit the David Sheldrick today and witness baby elephants being fed with milk by their keepers. It only takes 26 minutes from the CBD.
3. Giraffe center was established in 1979 in order to protect the endangered Giraffe (Rothschild’s) which is found only in the grasslands of East Africa. It is a nature sanctuary for visiting and learning about wildlife conservation. Visit the giraffe center and have fun playing with the Giraffes while feeding them.
4. Karen Blixen Museum
Karen Blixen is located 10 km outside Nairobi at the foot of the Ngong Hills. It is the former African home of Danish Author (Karen Blixen) famous for her book, Out of Africa which chronicles life at the estate. Visit the museum and get to see all about Karen Blixen’s life in Kenya.
5. Bomas of Kenya
This is the cultural center of the 42 Kenyan ethnic communities. Get entertained by each community traditional dancers, as you are also guided through various traditional houses and farm storage structures. Visiting time is always at 2.30 pm on weekdays and at 3.30 pm on weekends.
